We are delighted to share the wonderful news that both Erdington Academy and Smith鈥檚 Wood Academy were successful in their applications for funding from the Universal Music UK Sound Foundation.
Erdington Academy received a generous grant of 拢1,000, which has been used to purchase 17 new acoustic guitars. These guitars have already made a significant impact on the music department. According to Erdington Academy:
“The grant-funded guitars have significantly enhanced the music department. More students can now participate in guitar classes and practice sessions across both KS3 and KS4. The new equipment has enabled the formation of guitar ensembles, bands, and an after-school club. Not only have the new guitars freed up financial resources for other essential needs, but they have also enriched the music department and fostered a more dynamic musical community.”
Smith鈥檚 Wood Academy’s New Portable Keyboards
Smith鈥檚 Wood Academy was awarded 拢750, which has been used to purchase 9 Yamaha portable keyboards. These keyboards have also had a positive impact on the students and the music curriculum. As noted by Louise Hayward:
“The keyboards have really helped in lessons. Students are able to be much more productive and musical because they now have fully functioning and effective equipment.”
